The VitiMeteo-Project was started in 2001 by the governmental research institutions Agroscope (Switzerland) and Staatliches Weinbauinstitut Freiburg (Germany).
VitiMeteo aims to make weather data useable for viticulture, mainly through numerical models for prediction of plant diseases and pests. Since 2001 a set of models were developed, most of which are freely accessible on the web sites www.agrometeo.ch (Switzeland) and www.vitimeteo.de (Baden-Württemberg / Germany).
The project comprises:
- Development of models for plant diseases and pests
- Tools for management of weather data
- Development of a regionally adapted internet service
